For many of our treks, you can choose between camping and staying
in Mountain lodges, which are locally run guesthouses, but standards
vary enormously. In the popular areas, such as Annapurna, lodges
are more like hotels, with hot water, Western food, and private
rooms, in more remote areas; they are far simpler and more authentically
Nepalese.
Mountain Lodge trekking is less expensive than camping, and is
suitable for smaller groups. With larger groups, irrespective
of the area, it is more practical to camp. We provide all the
necessary camping equipment dining and toilet tents plus our guides,
porters and cooks, you trek in comfort with Western food of a
high standard.

Easy treks involve up to 6 hours of walking a day, on good trails
with plenty of time for sightseeing. Altitudes generally do not
exceed 3500 metres. Anyone who enjoys regular exercise and is
in good physical condition should easily cope with these treks.
Moderate treks involve walking for 6 to 8 hours a day in more
remote country, reaching altitudes of approximately 4500 metres.
A reasonable level of fitness is required as there will be much
ascent and descent with the occasional difficult day. A hill walking
background is advisable.
Demanding treks are harder, suitable for regular hill walkers
as they are generally more demanding and may involve 7 or 8 hour
days, with altitudes up to 5500 metres. You should be physically
fit and appropriate preparation is essential. Some days may involve
crossing a pass with up to 10 hours walking.

Kala Patar Trekking:
Lying at the end of the main trail in the Everest Region, Kala
Patar is the chief destinatin for trekkers flying into Lukla.
There's more to this trek than just a visit to the Everest base
camp. A breakthrough to Everest is the Gokyo valley with its turquoise
blue alpine lake and high vantage points that give sensational
views of Everest, Lhotse, Makalu, and Cho Oyu - four of the Nepal's
as well as world's eight highest peaks. From the Gokyo Valley,
the trek crosses over the Cho La Pass, an adventurous approach
to the upper Khumbu Valley and Everest Base Camp.
Another major attractions of this trek are visits to all the
major Sherpa villages including Namche Bazaar, Thame, Khumjung,
and beautiful Tengboche Monastery. The trek concludes with a very
early morning climb of Kala Pattar, for one of the most awesome
views as the sun rises on Everest, before returning via a different
route to Lukla.
Alternative Trekking To Kala Patar:
The Jiri Trail is the traditional way to journey to Kala Patar.
If you take up this trail, you'll be taking the route originally
taken by Sir Edmund Hillary and his crew when they went to Everest.
It's a much easier trek now, with trekking lodges for accommodation
available on the route.

Walking up the long valley towards Goyko and the lakes nearby
is one of the outstanding treks in the Khumbu. You'll go past
Yak pastures, gigantic glaciers, and the most magical and enchanting
scenery in the Khumbu. Once at Goyko, the small village that thrives
in the trekking trade, Goyko Ri rises next to the lake.
Other peaks situated above 8,000m that's ideal for trekking within
the Everest region are:
» Lhotse
» Cho Oyu
The peaks above 6,000m in the Everest region that can also make
good trekking choices in this area are Thamserku, Nuptse, Amadablam
and Pumori.

Situated North of the Annapurna Himal on the Tibetan border, Mustang
is a rugged mysterious arid and haunting wilderness region set
amid a lunar landscape of wind eroded hills and cliffs.
A Kingdom within a Kingdom, Mustang's wealth was derived from
its position on the Kali Gandaki / Thak Khola trade route to Tibet,
the region still retains its own King.
Forbidden to foreigners until 1992 Mustang remains a controlled
region which very few people visit, a deliberate policy of cultural
and environmental preservation. Our destination is the exotic
walled city of Lo Manthang the seat of the King. The Kings Palace
is surrounded by maize of gompas and private houses all enshrined
within the city boundary walls. Unmolested Mustang is frozen in
time it remains one of the ultimate journeys ever likely to be
made in one lifetime. The trek allows us to visit all the major
villages on route
The
tour begins with a flight from Kathmandu to Jomsom via the beautiful
lakeside town of Pokhara. We commence our trek in Jomosom (lower
Mustang) passing along the banks of the Kali Gandaki River towards
Kagbeni. On route to Lo Manthang in upper Mustang we pass through
the extraordinary village of Tsarang. In this village (around
800 years old) a set of human hands, said to belong to the site’s
master builder, still remain. According to legend, the king cut
the builder’s hands off to prevent him from constructing
any other place to rival it.

Kanchenjunga
straddles the border with Sikkim in the remote North East region
of Nepal. The third highest mountain in the world it is one of
the most inaccessible and formidable of the entire Himalayas.
The trek in is a long and often an arduous one. Kanchenjunga's
proximity deters all but the most avid mountain enthusiasts.
A journey, which takes you through scattered settlements of
thatched farmhouses with colourful flower gardens, wild coniferous
woodland and on to remote Buddhist settlements where people scratch
a living from the barren land. The climax of this trek in both
altitude and scenic splendor is undoubtedly the three days hike
up the Kanchenjunga glacier where the views are quite simply overwhelming.
At 8598 m. Kanchanjunga, is the third highest peak in the world.
It lies in a sensitive restricted area astride the Nepal/ Sikkim
border, only a few miles from Tibet. Our trip will avoid the restricted
area and head for the Yalung glacier immediately to the south
of Kanchanjunga.
The journey starts with a trek over the Mahabharat Lekh range
with majestic views of both the Everest and Kanchanjunga massifs
with the Arun Valley between them. We trek through richly cultivated
hillsides, Rhododendron forests and yak pastures that lye below
the glacier. The return route heading west passes through some
delightful villages of Taplejung. The panoramic views of Everest,
Makalu and Kanchanjunga are magnificent on our descent to the
road head.

Opened in 1992, A trek to the base of Mt. Manaslu offers a combination
of rich cultural heritage, unsurpassed beauty and a great diversity
of flora/fauna. Beginning our trek at Gorkha, home of the celebrated
Gorkha soldiers, we visit the ancient palace of King Prithivi
Narayan Shah before commencing our trek.... soon all traces of
modern civilisation fade as we travel through villages where the
harmonious agricultural life has remained unchanged for hundreds
of years.
The trek begins to get more serious, with the start of the ascent
of the Gandaki River Valley, fed by innumerable rivers and waterfalls,
where trekkers often enjoy a swim in refreshing river pools.
In Samagoan (3450 m.), we visit the glacial green lake of Birendra,
before crossing into mystic Sado, just 15 km. from the Tibetan
border. Here Tibetan monks inhabit sacred monasteries. More monasteries
await in Larkya Bazzar, along with this trek’s biggest challenge--
crossing the Larkya la 5135m between snow covered peaks which
reach over 6500 m.
From the top of the pass we descend through alpine forests alive
with flowers, ferns, bamboo, pine, waterfalls and aqua-blue green
lakes which are laced with cotton-white beaches.
This 3-week excursion should leave you somewhat fitter with a
sense of peace and respect both the people of region and the majesty
of the Nepal Himalaya.
