Trip Introduction

Tamang Heritage Trekking is one of the most popular community base trekking package in the Ganesh Himal and Langtang Himal rage. Tamang people are culturally rich, so one can say it is a culturally rich trial. These people are closer to the Tibetan traditions as it touches the Tibetan border in the north. Trekking on the Tamang heritage trail offers you an off the beaten track experience in a recently developed route with the charming mountain landscape.
The trekking route invites the experience of unspoiled and picturesque mountain beauty, a superb wilderness encounter through beautiful landscapes of alpine terrain, flat meadows and stunning rhododendron forests.
Trekkers will be accepted into villages and homes with open arms by hospitable locals where you have the opportunity to immerse in their daily lives, learning about their local customs and traditions and observe basket, mat and cloth hand-weaving. Visit their ancient monasteries and view their Buddhist religious practices, and even partake in a home-stay in Briddim homes adorned with rich wood carvings.
Blue Mountain Travels and Tour company specialise in the Langtang Region treks and Tamang Heritage trail, as this area is their home ground and the villagers are their kinfolk.
Trekking throughout the year is done according to trekkers’ preferences.

Accommodations

Most accommodation on the Tamang Heritage Trail will be in small local teahouses, which provide a warm comfortable bed and healthy, filling food. In Briddim, stay at a local homestay, which will also offer comfortable standards but may be a bit more basic.

Meals

Food along the Tamang Heritage Trail is much like it is elsewhere in Nepal, with a heavy reliance on rice, lentils and vegetable curries. Momos in this area tend to be a bit different from what you may have tried in Kathmandu. Instead of small, bite-size dumplings, momos here are larger pies that look more like Latin American empanadas, or British pasties. Also, try dhendo, a staple and alternative to rice in many villages of Nepal—cooked maize flour that is mashed up, looking somewhat like refried beans.

Physical Condition & Experience Requirements

Tamang Heritage Trek is a moderate trek suitable for passionate walkers who have the ability to walk at least 5-7 hours a day with a light day pack. Walking in higher altitudes is more physically demanding than walking in lower altitudes; however, if we are in excellent health with average physical fitness and have a positive attitude, self confidence and strong determination, we can accomplish this trek successfully. Exercising and jogging regularly for some weeks prior to the trip is a good idea to enhance our strength and stability. Past hiking experience would be an asset but no technical skill is required for this trip. It is vital for participants with pre-existing medical conditions such as heart, lung, and blood diseases to consult their doctor before taking the trip. It is also advised that you inform us about your medical condition before booking the trek.
